Plans for concert and anniversary party

Jenni's concert is less than 2 months away and if were going to do something special we need to start planning now. These are some of the things we've done in the past:

At Jenni's first concert we got her picture and "Las Tequileras" done on sleeveless black tops.

2 years ago for Jenni's concert at the Gibson we got rhinestone designs that say "Las Tequileras" and ironed it on to black tops. We also got the Divina butterfly logo and ironed it onto blue jeans.

Last year when Jenni was at the Gibson, we all walked in with a white rose and when Jenni sang "Amiga Si Lo Vez" we threw our rose's up onto the stage.

For this year's concert I think we should do something different, I don't want us to repeat anything from past concerts. Since we are such a large group (Tequileras) I wouldn't want to get tops made or all dress the same way since we all have different styles and it's hard for such a large group to agree on one thing. So please, if anyone has any ideas please let me know.

Also, since the concert is on a friday (August 10th) we won't have time like last year to get together for dinner before the show. I would like it though if we can meet in front of the Gibson to take a group picture and all go in together. The concert starts at 8:15pm (if they actually start as scheduled) so if we can start meeting in front of the box office around 7 or 7:30pm it would be great.

Tradition is that our anniversary party is the first weekend in the month of August. The first two years we had the party on the first weekend in August, the first one was in North Hills and the second one in Santa Ana. The third one was moved to the month of September (it was in Pico Rivera) because Jenni's concert at the Gibson was on the first saturday of August. Since Jenni's concert this year will be on a friday (August 10th) and some people will be coming from out of town for this it would be best to have our party the next day, saturday the 11th. So mark your calendars already for August 11th. The place, time and all the other details haven't been set yet.

Well, so far, history has not repeated it's self. In other words, all three parties have been in 3 different cities (1. North Hills, 2. Santa Ana, 3. Pico Rivera, 4. ????)

Thank you to those that have responded so far.

In response to some of the questions and comments:

- Jenni has always been invited to each of our anniversary parties, she went to the first 2 but wasn't able to make it to the last one because of work.

- food? drinks? DJ? etc.- I think it would be best to do things like we have done it for the past 2 anniversary parties where we all chip in on the food, eating utensils, DJ and tables and chairs rental, but everyone brings what they like to drink (beer, tequila, wine coolers, soda, etc.)

- for those of you that are not sitting with the rest of us at the concert, you are still welcome to show up early for the group pics

- I will take the large banner that is in the last picture, but everyone else is welcome to make there own and take it to the concert.

- Mary, thank you for offering your house for the party, I'll take it into consideration


Finally, so far we have one idea for the concert already, I know you guys can think of more.

yes, it includes all tequileras and tequileros. Make sure I have your email on my mailing list (if your an official tequilera than I should already have it along with the rest of your info). For tequileros, Greg has forwarded me the email list for the guys. For the party, the RSVP will be done by email and the address will also be sent through email, it will NOT be posted in the forum or anywhere else.

Atrevida I like your idea about doing something with butterflies, like inolvidablemariposa said, we could wear it in our hair, or also like a pin to wear on our clothes or as a charm on a necklace. I really doubt they will allow us to bring in live butterflies since the Gibson is indoors.

Okay, the party this year will be in clubbingdivas house (Orange, CA). I will be sending an RSVP email sometime next week so you guys can keep an eye out for it.

Does everyone agree on chipping in on the cost of the food, DJ and any other party expenses? We've done it this way for the past 2 years and this is the way it has worked out the best.

Drinks, we think its easier when everyone brings what they like to drink (beer, wine coolers, tequila, soda, etc.)

Time, what time should we start the party at? I think not to early because Jenni's concert is the night before, but also not too late.

Clubbingdiva suggested something to save some money. If someone has an Ipod or mp3 with lots of space and has a large selection of music we can use that instead of a DJ.

I can't remember exactly how much the DJ charged us last year, I think it was about 300 dollars for 6 hours. He started playing at around 4pm, but everyone really started arriving around 6pm, so from that experience, if we do get a DJ we should have them start playing later and for less hours.

For those of you wondering about how much each person is going to chip in with, here are some numbers from last year:

we spent about 300 on DJ, 100+ on the meat, I spent less than 80 on the cake, eating utensils, chips, salsa and other stuff I bought for the party. I made the beans and someone else made a macaroni salad and the rice.

about 40+ people RSVP'd, about 30 actually showed up and we had A LOT of left over food. Everyone ended up chipping in about 15 to 20 dollars, it would have been less if we had bought enough food for just 30 people. What I learned from that was to really stress people to RSVP and if they aren't going to show up to let us know so this doesn't happen again.
